Shoulder Impingement

Shoulder impingement is a condition used to describe repeated irritation of the biceps or tendons (fibres that connect muscle to bone) of the muscles that connect the arm to the shoulder. The impingement can be due to:

  • Ruptured blood vessels due to excessive overhead activitiesImpingement Syndrome
  • Tendon injuries due to repetitive overloading that causes inflammation
  • Tendon ruptures

Everyday activities that involve reaching out or back with the arm such as putting on a t-shirt can cause severe discomfort for individuals with the syndrome
