Dr. Polina Kapoustina

Wellness Advisor

I work with people who crave to discover their health potential. I show them how to connect the dots to their wellness by helping them find the underlying causes of their health problems, restoring their sleep, digestion, and immune health.

We lay out a personalized health action plan using functional medicine assessment, lifestyle changes, acupuncture, and/or nutritional and herbal supplements.

I talk about the micro biome, our so-called “second genome”, every chance I get because I believe this is the future of medicine!

  • I’m a licensed Naturopathic Doctor in Ontario and a member of the IFMCANDOAND, and BDDT-N
  • I’ve received additional training in functional medicine from the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM), an internationally recognized organization that focuses on personalized medicine
  • My article “Mind-Body Approaches to Alter Your Gene Expression” was featured in the Integrated Healthcare Practitioners (IHP) Magazine while the Brain-Gut Connection placed 1st in the NDNR Research Scholarship
  • I have 1200+ hours of clinical experience at the Brampton Hospital Naturopathic Teaching Clinic and the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic in Toronto, the largest clinic of its kind in North America (and 3000+ hours in classroom training)
  • I received the Linda Joyce Ganly Memorial Bursary for outstanding contribution to the promotion of naturopathic medicine

When I’m not seeing patients and writing in my blog, I can be found training naturopathic students to write their board exams, public speaking on the gut-brain axis, thyroid health and autoimmune disease, or hiking my favourite ravine in the city.

My friends would describe me as … innovative, easy going, and curious.

If you’re dying to know more, here are 5 things you don’t know about me…

1 I’m a bit of a risk taker! I’ve gone sky diving and zip lining.

2 Team sports are my thing and I’m always up for a game of volleyball.

3 I’m a conference junkie (topics ranging from Lifestyle Genomics to Women’s Health) and can be found at various destinations all over the world. Never stop learning, am I right?

4 I’m obsessed with podcasts and always listening to something on functional medicine, digital health or start-ups.

5 I studied Environmental Science in my undergrad (Slow Death by Rubber Duck is one of my go-to books).
