Topical Pain Relievers: What You Should Know

If you’ve ever experienced muscle or joint pain, chances are you may have experimented with topical pain relievers. These topical pain relievers are available in many different brands, such as Muscle Care, Voltaren, A535, Biofreeze and others. Topical ointments and creams are a great solution to short-term and quick pain relief, and are safer to use than over the counter medications, better known as NSAIDS.

NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) such as ibuprofen and naproxen are popular with joint pain. However, what is not usually known about them hare the harmful side effects, such as stomach ulcers, kidney damage and cardiovascular complications. To help avoid these side effects, topical pain relievers are a great option, as they still offer pain reduction with a lower risk of side effects. Usually these topical creams will have the same medications found in NSAIDS, such as Diclofenac Sodium.

At our clinic, we primarily use an all natural topical reliever, called Muscle Care ointment. The combination of magnesium and glucosamine applies more like an oil than a gel. This allows for better absorption of the ointment into the skin, providing significant pain relief within a short amount of time. Additionally, Muscle Care was also found to be safe for pregnant mothers and their babies according to a recent study found here.
