Are these the crutches from the future?

After nearly 100 years, crutches are finally getting a makeover. As someone who has used crutches in the past, I can say it is about time.

The current design is quite flawed. The pressure from the original crutch targets the hands and shoulder, which can cause bruising and arm pain. With repetitive use, these injuries can develop into rotator cuff and tendinosis, which may require treatment.

The new ergonomic and cool looking design appears to show much promise. Rather than focussing all the pressure in two areas, the body weight is dispersed along the arm. The pivotal design uses the body weight like a pendulum offering better mobility and increased stability.

Hopefully none of us will need to use crutches in the future, but if we do I know which one I would choose.
