Genu Recurvatum

Gene Recurvatum is a term that describes a deformity in the knee where the knee is bent backwards (hyperextended).

The presence of this condition may be hereditary, or caused by poor posture, or post-trauma.

Consequences of a hyperextended knee include increased stress applied to the knee joint and its ligaments, that can increase the likelihood for further knee complications.

Massage therapy techniques such as myofascial release and trigger point therapy, along with strengthening and stretching of selected muscles and muscle groups is essential in treatment.
